Box Score BRONX, N.Y. – The William Paterson volleyball team (1-0) started its 2014 season with a 25-22, 25-9, 25-20 victory at Lehman (2-5) Sept. 4.
 
Senior middle hitter Shauna VanDeRee (Waldwick, N.J./Waldwick) paced the Pioneers with eight kills, adding 10 digs and two block solos, while junior outside hitter/opposite hitter Nicole Spicer (Whiting, N.J./Manchester Twp.) collected a team-best 19 digs. Senior setter Danielle Koukos (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) added eight digs to her 22 assists, and sophomore outside hitter Erin Roach (Clark, N.J./Union County Vo-Tech) posted six kills and 11 assists.
 
The Lightning was led by Salveira Gonzalez's nine kills. Julia Mercado collected 20 digs and Imani Dubois had 20 assists.
 
William Paterson will open its home slate Saturday, Sept. 6, hosting Manhattanville at 12:00 p.m. and Brooklyn at 4:00 p.m.
