Box Score Video Highlights WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson (1-1) opened its home men's soccer slate in style, using a pair of
Omar Jallow (Union City, N.J./Union City) goals to propel itself past Stevens (0-2), 3-1, Sept. 3 at Pioneer Soccer Park.
Jallow wasted no time, sending a ball off the cross bar and into the net just 48 seconds into the contest. But, the Pioneers could not maintain that lead into the halftime break, as a miscommunication between the WP back and keeper allowed the Ducks' Carson Pryor to jump on the back pass and convert at the 40:33 mark.
Junior
Carlos Arevalo (North Haledon, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) pushed the Pioneers back ahead less than 10 minutes into the second half. Jallow played a ball from the middle to Arevalo on the left side, and he scored to the far post for what would be the game-winning goal.
Jallow tacked on an insurance goal in the 66th minute, receiving a ball touched over by junior
Juan Sebastian Londono (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) and sending it into the back of the net from the top of the box.
Sophomore
Mike Diacheysn (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) made three saves for WP and sophomore Mike Renna had four stops for the Ducks.
William Paterson will face Haverford Saturday, Sept. 6, at 1:00 p.m. in the first round of the school's Jimmy Mills Tournament.
