Box Score SALSIBURY, Md. – The No. 24 William Paterson softball team (31-11) was eliminated from the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament, falling 3-0 to Manhattanville (29-9) May 10.
The Pioneers threatened during the top of the second, putting runners on second and third with two outs, but were unable to score.
Manhattanville took a 2-0 lead in the third. Right fielder Brittany Deieso led off the inning with a double to left-center field and advanced to third on a ground out. With two outs, designated player Alex Scapperotti singled up the middle to plate Deieso and scored on a Shelbee Damianos double to left center.
The Valiants added to their lead in the fifth, when center fielder Rosaria Callara walked, stole second, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and score on a Damianos base hit up the middle to give Manhattanville a 3-0 advantage.

Rachel Wasilak (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) and junior designated player
Kristen Gardner (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) collected the Pioneers' two hits. Freshman
Gabrielle Castelli (Cedar Grove, N.J./Cedar Grove) fell to 13-3, allowing two runs on four hits while walking one in 3.0 innings. Freshman
Allison Podmajersky (Red Bank, N.J./Middletown South) gave up one run on four hits with one walk and two strikeouts in 3.0 innings of relief.
Damianos went 2-for-3 with two RBI for Manhattanville. Alyssa Taylor (28-6) earned the win, allowing just two hits while walking two and striking out one in the complete-game shutout.
