WAYNE, N.J. – Freshman third baseman Rachel Wasilak (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) went a combined 6-for-6 at the plate with four runs scored and four RBI as William Paterson (17-5, 7-1 NJAC) completed a 10-2 (six innings), 9-1 (five innings) doubleheader sweep against New Jersey City University (4-22, 0-8 NJAC) April 9.

Game One
Home runs from senior shortstop Katelyn Miele (Flanders, N.J./Pope John XXIII) and freshman catcher Kim Fryer (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg South) highlighted the Pioneer power surge in game one as WP defeated the Gothic Knights, 10-2, in six innings.

New Jersey City got on the board in the first, taking a 2-0 lead on an error and two singles.

The Pioneers got those two runs back in the bottom of the frame when Miele blasted a two-run homer over the left-field fence to tie the game at 2-2.

During the bottom of the second, Wasilak singled, and Fryer and sophomore first baseman Tracy Geller (Commack, N.Y./Commack) walked to load the bases with no outs. Freshman right fielder Nicole Fryer (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg South) then singled to third to plate Wasilak, and Miele drove in Geller with a base hit to right-center to bring the score to 4-2.

With one out in the third, Kim Fryer sent a ball over the left-field wall for a two-run homer, giving the Pioneers a 6-2 lead.

WP tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fourth. With the bases loaded and two outs, Wasilak sent a two-run single through the right side, and Kim Fryer collected an RBI base hit to give WP a 9-2 advantage.

In the sixth, Kim Fryer singled to left field to score junior third baseman Kim Reitmeyer (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) to give the Pioneers a 10-2 lead and end the game.

Wasilak went 4-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBI, and Kim Fryer collected two hits for WP. Sophomore Chelsea Batelli (Wayne, N.J./DePaul Catholic) earned her third win of the season, allowing two unearned runs on four hits and striking out seven in a complete-game effort.

Marissa Bariso went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Gothic Knights. Ashley Latushko (3-11) took the loss, giving up 10 runs (seven earned) on 14 hits and walking four in 5.1 innings.

Game Two
The Pioneers scored four runs in the third inning on their way to defeating New Jersey City, 9-1 in five innings, during the nightcap.

After putting runners on second and third with one out during the bottom of the first, Kim Fryer singled through the left side, and freshman first baseman Gabrielle Castelli (Cedar Grove, N.J./Cedar Grove) grounded out to plate two runs and give WP an early 2-0 lead.

During the bottom of the second, junior catcher Lachelle Rouse (Pine Hill, N.J./Overbrook Senior) singled up the middle, Nicole Fryer walked and Wasilak sent a base hit to left field to load the bases with one out. Miele walked to plate one run, Nicole Fryer scored on a wild pitch and Wasilak crossed the plate on a Kim Fryer sacrifice fly to bring the score to 5-0.

Bariso homered to left-center field to put the Gothic Knights on the board in the top of the third.
