Box Score 2 STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Led by junior center fielder 
Kelsey Principe (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany), who went a combined 5-for-5 with three runs scored and eight RBI, the William Paterson softball team (17-5, 5-1 NJAC) swept the College of Staten Island (9-6, 6-0 CUNYAC) April 10. The Pioneers earned an 11-0 victory in game one and won game two 12-3, both in five innings. 
Game OneHighlighted by a two-run home run from freshman catcher 
Kim Fryer (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg South), WP defeated the Dolphins 11-0 in game one. 
The Pioneers struck for three runs in the top of the first inning. Freshman right fielder 
Nicole Fryer (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg South) walked to lead off the game and came around to score on a triple from senior shortstop 
Katelyn Miele (Flanders, N.J./Pope John XXIII). 
Kim Fryer then blasted a two-run homer to center field to give WP an early 3-0 lead. 
Freshman first baseman 
Gabrielle Castelli (Cedar Grove, N.J./Cedar Grove) singled up the middle to start the third inning and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Principe. A 
Kelsey Wimmershoff (Park Ridge, N.J./Park Ridge) double plated Castelli, and a Staten Island error and a stolen base put runners on second and third with one out. After a ground out, 
Nicole Fryer singled to right to bring the score to 6-0. 
With two outs in the fourth, Principe singled up the middle and Wimmershoff hit her second double of the game to score two more runs, giving the Pioneers an 8-0 advantage. 
Singles from junior pinch hitter 
Kristen Gardner (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) and senior right fielder 
Laura Henriquez (Westampton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) and a walk from junior third baseman 
Kim Reitmeyer (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) loaded the bases for WP with no outs in the fifth. Miele followed with a three-run triple to right field, bringing the score to 11-0. 
Miele went 2-for-4 with four RBI, and 
Nicole Fryer, Principe and Wimmershoff each collected two hits. Freshman 
Allison Podmajersky (Red Bank, N.J./Middletown South) improved to 4-3, allowing just two hits and walking one while striking out five in 4.0 innings. Junior 
Kerrin Dys (North Arlington, N.J./North Arlington) allowed one hit in 1.0 inning of relief.   
The Dolphins picked up three hits from three different players. Jacqueline Cautela took the loss for Staten Island, giving up six runs (three earned) on seven hits and walking two in 3.0 innings. Victoria Procopio allowed five runs (three earned) on five hits in 2.0 innings out of the pen.         
Game TwoPrincipe drove in seven runs in game two, as WP cruised to a 12-3 victory to complete the sweep. 
She got the Pioneer offense started in the first, hitting a double to center to score 
Kim Fryer and Miele and give WP a 2-0 advantage. 
Staten Island took a 3-2 lead during the bottom of the frame on singles from Procopio and Christina Tufano. 
A double from junior second baseman 
Christina Austin (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) and a single from 
Nicole Fryer tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the second. 
The Pioneers exploded for five runs during the third.  Three straight base hits from freshman third baseman 
Rachel Wasilak (Livingston, N.J./Livingston), Miele and 
Kim Fryer loaded the bases with no outs for Principe, who followed with a two-run double. After a third run scored on a fielder's choice, junior catcher 
Lachelle Rouse (Pine Hill, N.J./Overbrook Senior) plated two runs with a single to give the Pioneers an 8-3 lead. 
In the fourth, Wasilak tripled to lead off the inning and scored on an error. With runners on first and second, Principe launched a three-run home run over the left field fence to bring the score to 12-3. 
Sophomore pitcher
 Chelsea Batelli (Wayne, N.J./DePaul Catholic) retired the next six Staten Island hitters in order to secure the sweep for the Pioneers. 
Principe went 3-for-3 with seven RBI, two doubles, two runs scored and a home run for WP. Batelli (4-1) earned the win, allowing just one hit and striking out six in 5.0 innings of relief. Freshman 
Meghin Stanton (Chesterfield, N.J./ Northern Burlington Regional) gave up three runs on three hits and walked one batter. 
Tufano collected a hit and two RBI for Staten Island. Procopio took the loss, allowing six runs on seven hits in 2.1 innings. Cautela gave up six runs on five hits and walked one in 1.2 innings out of the pen, and Alexandra Conanan allowed one hit and struck out one batter in 1.0 inning out of the pen.       
William Paterson will host Richard Stockton for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 12, at 1:00 p.m.
