NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (6-3) could not swim past Mount Saint Mary (5-1) as the Knights defeated the Pioneers, 162-97, Dec. 6.

The Pioneers were led by sophomore Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) who touched first in three events, the 100 breast (1:11.04), 200 breast (2:33.28) and the 200 IM (2:21.19).

Sophomore Christine Gustafson (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) was a double winner for the Pioneers, securing victories in the 100 (1:05.46) and 200 (2:27.39) flies.

Senior Sheri Brino (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) finished first in the 200 back (2:28.12).

The Pioneers will host Adelphi University Saturday, Dec. 13, as they celebrate Parent Appreciation Day, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
