SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Three different Pioneers got into the scoring column as the William Paterson field hockey team (6-8) earned a 3-1 victory at Union (5-8) Oct. 18.
Senior midfielder
Courtnaey Chelf (Blackwood, N.J./Triton Regional) opened the scoring for the Pioneers at the 7:54 mark, picking up a direct rebound five yards out in front and putting it in the net for her sixth score of the season. Junior forward
Angelica Giammetta (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) made it a 2-0 score in the 15th minute when junior midfielder
McKenna Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran) sent a pass from the right of the net to the middle, where Giammetta shot from 10 yards out for her fifth of the year. With 1:15 left in the first half, junior
Meg Davies (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) made a strong right pad kick save off a bid from Allison Troy, keeping it a 2-0 game at halftime.
Laura Pacheco got the Dutchwomen on the board at the 53:05 mark as Alexa Steriti took a corner and Pacheco got the feed from 12 yards out. But, Reynolds added an insurance just 5:47 later. Freshman forward
Carly Satter (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) passed from the far right side and found Reynolds in close, and she tucked in her fifth goal of the season for the 3-1 score.
Davies had eight saves for WP, and Laura Aptowitz made five stops for Union.
William Paterson will play at No. 4 The College of New Jersey Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m.
