EWING, N.J. – William Paterson (6-9, 1-4 NJAC) suffered a 6-1 field hockey loss at No. 4 The College of New Jersey (15-1, 5-0 NJAC) Oct. 21.
TCNJ opened up a 2-0 lead in the first 15 minutes as senior Lindsey Hatch and sophomore Jaclyn Douglas each scored. The Lions added one more tally in the later stages of the period when sophomore Danielle Andreula set up senior Victoria Martin to make it a 3-0 margin less than eight minutes before the break.
In the second half, the team traded goals early, with senior Erin Waller scoring for TCNJ and sophomore midfielder
Elizabeth Kerr (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) countering for the Pioneers off an assist from senior midfielder
Courtnaey Chelf (Blackwood, N.J./Triton Regional). Those two goals came 49 seconds apart with the latter coming with 29:13 remaining.
The hosts tacked on goals by Andreula and Hatch in the 52nd and 61st minutes, respectively, to close out the 6-1 victory.
Junior
Meg Davies (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) made 12 saves for WP, and sophomore midfielder
Meghin Stanton (Chesterfield, N.J./North Burlington Regional) had a defensive save. Kelly Schlupp and Amanda Krause combined for the win for TCNJ.
William Paterson will play at Stevens Sunday, Oct. 26, at 12:00 p.m.
