Giammetta Scores Twice as Pioneers Defeat Visiting Ramapo

Video Highlights

WAYNE, N.J. – Head coach Lindsay Bard recorded her 100th career victory as the William Paterson field hockey team (5-8, 1-3 NJAC) cruised to a 5-1 victory against visiting Ramapo (2-13, 0-4 NJAC) Oct. 15.

The Pioneers struck first when sophomore midfielder Meghin Stanton (Chesterfield, N.J./North Burlington Regional) sent a pass into the circle during the 13th minute and sophomore midfielder Elizabeth Kerr (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) cleaned up the loose ball for her fourth goal of the season.

Roadrunner freshman Gianna Mouskourie knotted the score with an unassisted goal two minutes later, driving the ball from the right side to the far post.

WP was awarded a penalty corner as time expired in the first period, and junior forward Felicia Wetzel (Point Pleasant, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) took advantage, knocking in junior midfielder McKenna Reynolds' (Delran, N.J./Delran) pass for a 2-1 Pioneer lead.

Junior forward Angelica Giammetta (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) made it a 3-1 score just 1:13 into the second half when she converted senior midfielder Courtnaey Chelf's (Blackwood, N.J./Triton Regional) penalty-corner pass.

Giammetta scored her second goal of the night with an unassisted strike at the 57:13 mark, and sophomore midfielder Courtney Allen (Woodbine, N.J./Ocean City) finished the scoring in the 65th minute, finding the back of the cage for her first career goal.

Junior Meg Davies (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) had two saves for WP, and freshman Emmily Wisneski made seven stops for Ramapo.

Bard, in her 11th season as the Pioneers' mentor, now owns a career mark of 100-99 as WP's all-time winningest field hockey coach.

William Paterson will play at Union Saturday, Oct. 18, at 12:00 p.m.
