GAME ONE
In a pitchers' duel, it was the Pioneers who pushed a run across in a 1-0 decision.

Kean threatened during the top of the third, loading the bases with one out, but sophomore Kerrin Dys (North Arlington, N.J./North Arlington) forced a pop up and a fly out to end the inning.

The Pioneers got on the board in the bottom of the inning. With runners on first and third, sophomore second baseman Christina Austin (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) stole second, allowing freshman pinch runner Kelsey Wimmershoff (Park Ridge, N.J./Park Ridge) to score on the throw.

Sophomore first baseman Melissa Swain (West Berlin, N.J./Paul VI) and junior shortstop Katelyn Miele (Flanders, N.J./Pope John XXIII) each contributed a hit.  Dys (4-5) allowed six hits in 7.0 shutout innings and struck out seven to earn the win.

Megan Cegielski went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Cougars.  Courtney Yard (10-8) took the loss, allowing one run on four hits.

GAME TWO
Kean rallied to score three runs in the seventh to complete a 9-7 comeback victory against the Pioneers.

The Cougars got on the board during the top of the first, when Katie Schuh led off with a single and came around to score on a two-out hit from Sandra Binkiewicz.

WP answered in the bottom half of the inning. Three straight singles from Austin, Miele and Dys loaded the bases with one out. Sophomore catcher Lachelle Rouse (Pine Hill, N.J./Overbrook Senior) lined a single into center field to drive in two runs.  With two outs, a wild pitch allowed pinch runner Wimmershoff to score the Pioneers' third run of the inning.

During the top of the third, Kean laced four consecutive hits to plate three runs and take a 4-3 lead.

Junior Jill Martin blasted a two-run home run over the left field fence in the fourth to extend the Cougars' lead to 6-3.

A single from Swain, a walk to pinch hitter Liz DeVenio (Little Falls, N.J./Passaic Valley Regional) and a Samantha Mulderig (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) hit loaded the bases with no outs in the fifth. Austin lined a triple to left-center field to clear the bases and Miele singled to right to give the Pioneers a 7-6 lead.

Highlighted by a two-run single from senior Courtney Melchionna, Kean rallied to score three runs during the seventh to take a late 9-7 lead.
