PITMAN, N.J. – Fourth-seeded William Paterson (16-9, 11-7 NJAC) will host fifth-seeded Rowan (17-8, 10-8 NJAC) in the opening round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Men's Basketball Tournament Saturday, Feb. 16, at 1:00 p.m.

The winner will advance to the semifinal round Tuesday, Feb. 19, at top-seeded Ramapo at 7:00 p.m. General Admission is $5.00. Students, children 12 and under, and senior citizens will be admitted for $2.00. The first 150 William Paterson students with ID will be admitted to games at the Rec Center for free, courtesy of the Student Government Association and Residence Life.
The Pioneers and Profs have met twice this season. In the first meeting on Dec. 15, William Paterson notched a 51-48 win in Glassboro. Rowan came away with a 74-64 road victory against the Pioneers in the second matchup on Jan. 26
The Pioneers are 16-9 overall and 11-7 in the NJAC following a 61-60 victory against No. 16 Ramapo (21-4, 15-3 NJAC) Feb. 13.
Senior 6-5 guard/forward
Lance Brown (Teaneck, N.J./Paterson Catholic), the 2012 NJAC Player of the Year and a second-team National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) all-American, leads WP with 14.4 points per game (sixth in league) while adding 7.4 rebounds per contest (seventh in conference). A four-time NJAC Rookie of the Week, freshman 6-6 guard/forward
Terik Bridgeman (Harlem, N.Y./Nia Prep) is contributing 10.0 points, a team-best 9.2 rebounds (fourth in NJAC) and a league best 1.6 blocks per game. Senior 6-1 guard
Rick DeStefano (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) is averaging 9.2 tallies per contest.
William Paterson was 24-4 overall and 11-2 in league play last season, winning the program's 11th NJAC Tournament title.
