WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team improved to 4-1 this season with a 64-55 victory against visiting York, N.Y. (2-4) Dec. 2.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 13-5 lead less than eight minutes into the contest, but a later 17-4 Pioneer burst put WP ahead by a 23-17 count with 3:11 remaining in the first half. Junior guard Sandy Burgos (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee) put down 17 first-half points and the Pioneers entered the locker room with a 27-21 edge.
