WAYNE, N.J. – Five Pioneers were double winners as the William Paterson tennis team (4-4, 1-3 NJAC) sailed past visiting Kean (3-6, 1-3 NJAC), 8-1, Oct. 2.

Freshman Brittany LaBruna (Bloomingdale, N.J./Continental Academy) and junior Kristy Daubert (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) defeated Jaelynn Lee and Dabra Dress at first doubles, 8-4, while senior Mary Skretkowicz (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) and junior Jessica Daniels (Edison, N.J./Edison) earned an 8-2 win at second doubles against Erin Hendricks and Christy Verdi. Senior Fallon Conry (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) and sophomore Charisse Smalls (Lakewood, N.J./Lakewood) finished the doubles sweep with an 8-3 victory at third against Brianna Martin and Zenzile Liggins.

LaBruna remained perfect at first singles (14-0) with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Dress. Skretkowicz earned a 6-3, 6-0 second-singles victory against Lee, and Daniels posted a 6-4, 6-3 win at third against Hendricks. Daubert defeated Verdi at fourth singles, 6-4, 6-1, and Smalls registered a 6-4, 6-2 victory at sixth singles over Liggins.

Prior to the match, the Pioneers honored seniors Conry, Maris Ferreira (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) and Skretkowicz.

William Paterson will compete at Purchase Sunday, Oct. 6, at 11:00 a.m.
