PITMAN, N.J. – For the sixth straight week, William Paterson freshman
Brittany LaBruna (Bloomingdale, N.J./Continental Academy) was acknowledged by the league office when she was selected as the Oct. 15 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tennis Rookie of the Week.
The Sept. 9, Sept. 16, Sept. 23 and Oct. 8 NJAC Rookie of the Week, as well as the Sept. 30 NJAC Player of the Week, LaBruna and junior
Kristy Daubert (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) defeated Michelle Kvitnitsky and Yara Elsekhely at first doubles, 8-0, and LaBruna cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at first singles against Dhaneya Kumar, during a 5-4 team victory Oct. 8 at Rutgers-Newark. At the NJAIAW Tournament Oct. 12-13, she reached the Flight A championship match. Following a first-round bye, LaBruna defeated Drew's Sofia Madrigal, 8-3, and Adina Halagian of Saint Peter's, 6-0, 6-3. She later suffered her first singles loss of the season (17-1), falling in the final, a 6-4, 6-0 decision against Alexandra Livingston of Division I Saint Peter's
William Paterson (5-4, 2-3 NJAC) will finish its fall schedule Thursday, Oct. 17, at Rutgers-Camden at 3:00 p.m.
