WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson (12-5, 1-4 NJAC) dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Montclair State (12-6, 3-2 NJAC) in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) volleyball action Oct. 10 at the Rec Center.
The first set was well contested, but a late Red Hawk surge allowed MSU to walk away with a 25-14 victory. Montclair State scored 12 of the first 13 points en route to a 25-12 second-set win, and finished off the sweep with a 25-14 victory in the third.
Junior middle hitter
Shauna VanDeRee (Waldwick, N.J./Waldwick) led WP with nine kills, while junior setter
Danielle Koukos (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) contributed team bests of 18 assists and 11 digs. Senior outside hitter
Amanda Morales (Lyndhurst, N.J./Lyndhurst) had five kills and six digs.
Freshman Courtney Matlock put down a match-best 13 kills for MSU, and junior Angela Campo dished out 35 assists. Senior Kaitlyn Irwin led all players with 18 digs.
William Paterson will play at Rutgers-Newark Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 7:00 p.m.
