Shauna VanDeRee (Waldwick, N.J./Waldwick) had a double-double as William Paterson (11-3) cruised to a 3-0 volleyball victory against visiting Staten Island (4-10) Oct. 1.
The Pioneers scored 11 of the first 12 points en route to a 25-6 first-set victory. Tied at 6-6 in the second, WP reeled off six straight points to take command and eventually finished off a 25-14 win, and the Pioneers pulled away in the third for another 25-14 victory.
VanDeRee led all players with 10 kills and 14 digs, adding three aces. Freshman outside hitter
Mary Long (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) contributed eight kills, six digs and three service aces, freshman outside hitter
Erin Roach (Clark, N.J./Union County Vo-Tech) finished with seven kills, six digs and four aces, and junior setter
Danielle Koukos (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) dished out 19 assists while collecting three kills and three aces.
Junior Pola Poskrobko led the Dolphins with six kills. Freshman Loykee Victoria Wong had 13 digs and junior JeanMarie Lewandowski finished with 12 assists.
William Paterson will visit Rutgers-Camden Thursday, Oct. 3, at 7:00 p.m.
