WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson tennis team improved to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play with a 9-0 home sweep of Rutgers-Newark (4-7, 0-6 NJAC) Sept. 29.

Christina Puleo (Leonia, N.J./Leonia) and junior
Samantha Miller (West Keansburg, N.J./Raritan) defeated Michelle Kvitnitsky and Yara Elsekhely, 8-1, at first doubles. Sophomore
Kristy Daubert (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) and junior
Lauren Abate (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) earned an 8-6 victory against Dhaneya Kumar and Michelle Nagamine at second doubles, and sophomore
Jessica Daniels (Edison, N.J./Edison) and junior
Mary Skretkowicz (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) posted an 8-1 third-doubles victory against Maggie Tchorzewska and Angela Ho.
Puleo defeated Kvitnitsky, 6-0, 6-0, at first singles, and Miller was a 6-1, 6-0 winner against Kumar at second. Abate earned a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Elsekhely at third singles, and Daniels posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at fourth singles against Nagamine. Daubert finished with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Tchorzewska at fifth singles, and Skretkowicz earned a 6-0, 6-1 win against Ho at sixth.
William Paterson will play Kean Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 4:00 p.m.
