Volleyball Sweeps Old Westbury Quad

Woegens, Dykhouse Lead Attack for Pioneers

Senior Liz Dykhouse contributed 32 assists to a trio of 3-0 victories at the Old Westbury Quad.

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – William Paterson opened its 2012 volleyball season with a sweep at the Old Westbury Quad Sept. 1.  The Pioneers (3-0) defeated the host Panthers (0-1) 25-17, 26-24 and 25-16, earned a 25-10, 25-11, 25-12 victory against Brooklyn (0-1), and finished the day with a 25-22, 25-22, 25-12 win against CCNY (1-1).

Against Old Westbury, sophomore outside hitter Taylor Woegens (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) led all players with 11 kills.  Senior Liz Dykhouse (Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland Regional) had 11 assists, and junior outside hitter Amanda Morales (Lyndhurst, N.J./Lyndhurst) collected nine digs.

Woegens again paced WP in kills with six against Brooklyn.  Dykhouse posted 10 assists, senior libero Alyssa Koukos (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) had seven digs and junior middle hitter Erika Masso (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson) chipped in five kills, four digs and three block assists.

During the victory against CCNY, Dykhouse dished 11 assists, Woegens contributed 10 kills and five digs, and Koukos had eight digs.

William Paterson will play its home opener Tuesday, Sept. 4, against Brooklyn at 7:00 p.m.
