Women’s Swimming & Diving Finishes Sixth at Metropolitan Championships

Kuchin Highlights Pioneers’ Individual Efforts

Senior Brett Kuchin was eighth in the B Final (2:37.09) of the 200 breast at the Metropolitan Championships.
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team finished sixth of 10 Division III teams at the Metropolitan Championships Feb. 19 at Rutgers University.

Senior Brett Kuchin (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) was eighth in the B Final (2:37.09) and freshman Courtney Starace (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) touched seventh in the C Final (2:48.29) of the 200 breast.

In the 200 back, freshman Sheri Brino (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) placed fourth (2:19.26) and junior Kerry Doris (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) finished eighth (2:24.88) in the C Final.

Senior Lesly Mendoza (Passaic, N.J./Paramus Catholic) was eighth in the 200 fly C Final (2:28.43).

In the 1,650 free, Doris placed 19th in a time of 20:12.17.

Sophomore Lauren Carney (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick), Kuchin, senior Jaimie Hinshelwood (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Twp.) and Mendoza finished fourth in the 400 free relay B Final in a time of 3:52.08.
