Women’s Swimming & Diving Led by Relays on Mets’ First Day

Pioneers Place Second in 200 Free Relay B Final

Senior Lesly Mendoza was part of the Pioneers' 200 free (1:44.92) and 400 medley (4:16.71) relays at the Metropolitan Championships.
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – William Paterson's second-place finish in the women's 200 free relay B Final highlighted the Pioneers' first-day efforts at the Metropolitan Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 17 at Rutgers University.

Sophomore Lauren Carney (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick), senior Lesly Mendoza (Passaic, N.J./Paramus Catholic), senior Jaimie Hinshelwood (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Twp.) and senior Brett Kuchin (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) posted a time of 1:44.92 in the 200 free relay. 

Freshman Sheri Brino (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional), Kuchin, Mendoza and Carney placed third in the 400 medley relay (4:16.71).

Kuchin also registered a seventh-place finish in the 200 IM C Final (2:22.61).

William Paterson will continue competition at the Metropolitan Championships Feb. 18-19.
