BOX SCORE

GALLOWAY, N.J. – William Paterson (4-2, 2-1 NJAC) fought back late in regulation to force overtime, but host Richard Stockton (5-0, 3-0 NJAC) came away with a 63-54 men's basketball victory Dec. 1.

The Ospreys led by as many as 12 in the second half (41-29, 12:39), but senior guard/forward Lance Brown (Teaneck, N.J./Paterson Catholic) capped a furious 14-1 run with his three-pointer at the 8:33 mark, handing WP a 43-42 lead.  A tie and five lead changes marked the next 6:21 of play, but four straight Stockton points made it a 50-47 Osprey advantage with 1:54 on the clock.

Sophomore forward James McLane's (Belleville, N.J./Queen of Peace) putback resulted in a three-point play, knotting the score at 50-50 with 1:15 left, and a turnover and steal put junior guard Sandy Burgos (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee) on the line nine seconds later.  He made both for a 52-50 Pioneer advantage.  Rich Suhr was fouled and made a pair from the charity stripe (52-52, 0:59), followed by a WP miss, offensive rebound and turnover.  Stockton's Rameel Johnson missed a layup at the buzzer, sending the two teams to overtime.

William Paterson scored the first two points of the extra time thanks to a pair of free throws by sophomore guard Jaques Conceicao (Massama-Lisboa, Portugal/Francais Charle Lepierre) 1:13 into the period, but the Ospreys put together an 11-0 run for the victory.

Freshman guard/forward Terik Bridgeman (Harlem, N.Y./Nia Prep) contributed his third double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Brown finished with 11 tallies and seven boards.  The game was a rematch of the 2012 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament title game, a 67-63 WP win in Galloway (Feb. 25).

Suhr led Richard Stockton with 25 points, Darnell McCargo had 10 tallies and 10 rebounds, and Kevin Johnson scored 12 points.

William Paterson will host Rutgers-Newark Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 6:00 p.m.
