MADISON, N.J. – William Paterson (5-5) ended its 2012 football season with a 26-6 victory at FDU-Florham (2-8) Nov. 16.  With the victory, the Pioneers finished their campaign bowl eligible for the fourth time in the last eight years.

The Devils found the end zone on the opening drive of the game thanks to Jon Bennett's seven-yard run.  The kick was no good, but FDU-Florham owned a 6-0 lead 4:33 into the contest.

The Pioneers made good on their first possession as well, thanks in part to their ability to keep the chains moving on third-and-nine with a 22-yard completion by junior quarterback Ryan Gresik (Newton, N.J./Newton) to senior wide receiver Alex Price (Newton, N.J./Newton).  Sophomore running back Isaac Jlaka (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) finished the drive with a four-yard touchdown, and classmate Robert Sinegra (Wharton, N.J./Morris Knolls) kicked the extra point to hand WP a 7-6 edge at the 6:49 mark.

Sinegra's 19-yard field goal with six seconds remaining in the first half allowed the Pioneers to take a 10-6 lead in the locker room.

Each team threw an interception in the third quarter, the second one picked off by senior bandit Stephen Bovo, Jr. (Dunellen, N.J./Dunellen) at the Pioneers' 20-yard line at the 4:36 mark.

Sophomore linebacker Mike Fraioli's (Mohegan Lake, N.Y./Lakeland) sack resulted in a fumble recovered by senior defensive lineman James Grande (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) at the WP-20 with 2:00 to play in the third, and three plays later Jlaka ripped off a 68-yard run, his second touchdown of the day that made it a 17-6 margin.

Sinegra's 47-yard field goal, just one yard short of his own school record, stretched the lead to 20-6 with 9:15 left in the fourth quarter.  Freshman Darius Kersey (Dover, N.J./Dover) finished the scoring with his 25-yard touchdown run with 1:07 remaining.

Gresik finished 24-for-38 for 232 yards, while Jlaka posted his second-straight 100-yard rushing effort with 124 yards and two touchdowns on 14 attempts.  Senior tight end Joseph Cordato (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) led the receivers with seven catches for 89 yards.

Fraioli made a team-best nine tackles (2.5 for loss, 1.5 sacks), and senior bandit German Decena (Union City, N.J./Emerson) and junior defensive lineman Webb Geer (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) each made eight stops.

A Ognibene was 8-for-14 for 62 yards under center for FDU-Florham, and Bennett carried 14 times for 88 yards and a score.  Mike Mancino paced the defense with 10 tackles.

The WP/FDU-Florham game was not a part of either team's original 10-game schedule, but was added when the Pioneers' home game against Cortland and the Devils' home game against Widener were both canceled the weekend of Nov. 3 due to the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.
