UNION, N.J. – Two victories allowed the William Paterson tennis team (6-2, 3-2 NJAC) to finish off a 6-3 victory at Kean (6-2, 1-1 NJAC) Oct. 5. The match was originally halted with WP leading, 4-3, due to darkness on Oct. 3.
Senior
Christina Puleo (Leonia, N.J./Leonia) and junior
Samantha Miller (West Keansburg, N.J./Raritan) earned an 8-4 victory against Jaelynn Lee and Lauren Petrucelli at first doubles, while sophomore
Jessica Daniels (Edison, N.J./Edison) and junior
Mary Skretkowicz (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) posted an 8-4 win against Erin Hendricks and Samirah Jackson at third doubles.
Puleo was a 6-4, 6-4 winner at first singles against Petrucelli, and Miller triumphed over Lee at second singles, 6-0, 6-0. In the two matches completed Oct. 5, Daniels finished off Erika Tapia at fourth singles, 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 12-10, and Skretkowicz defeated Christy Verdi, 6-1, 6-3, at sixth singles.
William Paterson will play in the NJAIAW Tournament Saturday, Oct. 6, in Madison, N.J.
