WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson improved to 13-6 in volleyball action this season with a pair of home victories Oct. 6.  The Pioneers got past U.S. Merchant Marine (9-10) in four sets, 14-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-23, and earned a 25-9, 25-19, 25-12 win against York, N.Y. (5-19).

Against the Mariners, sophomore Shauna VanDeRee (Waldwick, N.J./Waldwick) and junior Erika Masso (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson) each put down 11 kills.  Sophomore outside hitter Taylor Woegens (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) had 10 kills and nine digs, freshman outside hitter Michelle Merida (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) collected 13 digs, and senior setter Liz Dykhouse (Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland Regional) tallied 31 assists and 11 digs.

VanDeRee led the way against the Cardinals with 10 kills.  Senior libero Alyssa Koukos (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) posted 10 digs, Dykhouse finished with 27 assists, freshman outside hitter Issel Garcia (Ridgefield Park, N.J./Ridgefield Park) added eight kills and Morales had five kills and nine digs.

William Paterson will host Rutgers-Newark Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 7:00 p.m.
