WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (14-10) suffered a 23-25, 18-25, 24-26 loss against visiting King's (9-17) on Senior Night Oct. 23 at the Rec Center.
Senior setter
Liz Dykhouse (Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland Regional) posted 23 assists, and classmate and libero
Alyssa Koukos (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) paced the Pioneers with 12 digs. Sophomore middle hitter
Shauna VanDeRee (Waldwick, N.J./Waldwick) had a team-best nine kills, classmate
Erika Masso (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson) contributed seven kills and four blocks (two solo), and sophomore setter
Danielle Koukos (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) chipped in seven assists and nine digs.
Alexa Nelson led all players with 12 kills for King's. Mary Loghran posted 27 assists and 11 digs for the Lady Monarchs.
After the match, WP honored its pair of seniors – Dykhouse and
Alyssa Koukos.
William Paterson will finish the regular season Friday, Oct. 26, at Ramapo at 7:00 p.m. In order for WP to qualify for the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament, Rutgers-Camden must defeat Rutgers-Newark on Oct. 25, and WP must defeat Ramapo in three sets.
