Foootball to Travel to Morrisville State Oct. 20

Pioneers Start Two-Game Road Swing at 12:00 p.m.

William Paterson (2-4, 0-4 NJAC) visits Morrisville State (1-5, 1-3 NJAC) Saturday, Oct. 20.  Kickoff at Drake Field will be at 12:00 p.m.  Live statistics will be available via wpupioneers.com, and a live audio broadcast will be provided by WP Brave New Radio 88.7 FM.

Scouting the Pioneers 
William Paterson is 2-4 overall and 0-4 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) following a 45-33 loss against Kean (4-2, 4-0 NJAC) Oct. 13.  

Junior Ryan Gresik (Newton, N.J./Newton) is 84-for-146 for 923 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions under center.   

Senior tailback Dawys German (North Arlington, N.J./North Arlington), a first-team all-conference honoree a year ago, has carried 107 times for 434 yards and three touchdowns, and has also caught 13 passes (65 yards).  Sophomore running back Isaac Jlaka (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) has 19 attempts for 97 yards and a score.

Junior wide receiver Mick Paye (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) leads the Pioneers with 22 receptions, 290 yards and two touchdown catches.  Classmate Howard Davis (Franklin Park, N.J./Franklin) has caught 12 passes for 144 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and senior tight end Joseph Cordato (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) has added 13 catches, 110 yards and a score.

Senior bandit German Decena (Union City, N.J./Emerson) owns 47 tackles (19 solo), a fumble recovery and a 70-yard interception return for a score (at Maritime, Sept. 29).  Senior linebacker Clifton Glaze (Palmyra, N.J./Palmyra) has 39 stops (six solo, 1.5 TFL), and senior free safety Javon Hodges (Parlin, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) has recorded 38 tackles (16 solo, 1.0 sack).  Sophomore Jedd Blackowski (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) has tallied 37 tackles (15 solo, 4.0 TFL) and a forced fumble, and senior cornerback Adam Curry (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) has made 31 stops (19 solo, 1.0 TFL).

An honorable-mention all-league selection last year, sophomore placekicker Robert Sinegra (Wharton, N.J./Morris Knolls) is 10-for-11 on PATs and 2-for-7 on field-goal attempts.  Junior wide receiver Julian Frazier (Plainfield, N.J./North Plainfield) has been pressed into punting duties due to an injury suffered by all-NJAC honoree Cory Mundt (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills), and Frazier is averaging 33.6 yards per attempt.  Hodges is averaging a league-leading 13.2 yards per punt return, and Jlaka is averaging 14.7 yards per kickoff return.

William Paterson returned nine offensive starters and eight defensive starters from a 2011 team that finished 4-6 overall and 3-6 in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play.  The Pioneers, who welcomed back 54 letterwinners and five all-conference selections, were predicted to finish sixth in the 2011 NJAC Preseason Coaches Poll.

Scouting the Mustangs
Morrisville State is 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) after a 34-33 win at Western Connecticut (0-6, 0-5 NJAC) Oct. 13.  Under the direction of head coach Terry Dow, the Mustangs were selected to finish eighth in the 2012 NJAC Preseason Coaches Poll.

Freshman quarterback Jory Tanner is 63-for-95 for 676 yards, six touchdowns and five interception under center. 

Sophomore running back Earl Snead leads the Mustangs on the ground with 292 yards on 55 carries and three touchdowns, and also has nine receptions for 104 yards and a TD. 

Freshman wide receiver Maurice Betton leads Morrisville with 16 catches (176 yards), junior wide receiver AJ Latta leads the team with 275 receiving yards (16 catches, two TDs), and sophomore wide receiver Robert Clarke has added 12 catches (196 yards, two scores).

Junior linebacker Brian Doyle and junior defensive back Jeremy Stewart lead the Mustangs with 39 tackles (22 solo) each.  Senior defensive lineman Darry Albright leads the Mustangs with 3.0 sacks and 8.0 tackles for loss, and junior defensive back Austin Erlwein has 33 tackles and owns the team's only two interceptions.    Sophomore Tyler Dunworth has averaged 38.1 yards per punt, and classmate Zach Drake is 12-for-12 on PATs and 0-for-4 on field goals.  Betton is averaging 19.8 yards per kickoff return.

Morrisville was 1-9 overall and 1-8 in the NJAC last fall.
