WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson tennis team (7-2) reached the seven-win plateau for the first time in nearly a decade with a 9-0 sweep of visiting Farmingdale State (6-4) Oct. 10.
The Pioneers' previous best record since reinstating the sport in 2004 came last season when WP finished 2011-12 with a 6-6 mark.
Senior
Christina Puleo (Leonia, N.J./Leonia) and junior
Samantha Miller (West Keansburg, N.J./Raritan) won 8-3 at first doubles against Jessica Sickles and Laura Earlie, while junior
Lauren Abate (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) and sophomore
Kristy Daubert (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) registered an 8-1 victory against Denise Liguori and Rachael Tomasulo at second doubles. Sophomore
Jessica Daniels (Edison, N.J./Edison) and junior
Mary Skretkowicz (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) posted an 8-1 win over Amanda Vecchio and Vanessa Josma at third doubles.
Puleo won 6-4, 6-2, against Sickles at first singles, Miller was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Earlie at second, and Abate earned a 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 victory against Liguori at third singles. Daniels picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at fourth singles against Josma, Daubert defeated Tomasulo 6-1, 6-1 at fifth, and Skretkowicz posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Vecchio at sixth singles.
William Paterson will finish its fall schedule Saturday, Oct. 13, at Richard Stockton at 1:00 p.m.
