KISSIMMEE, FLA. – William Paterson (7-3) finished its trip to the Rebel Spring Games with a split, losing to Wheaton, Mass. (7-4), 5-2, and defeating McDaniel (3-8), 6-1, March 18 in Kissimmee, Fla.

GAME ONE
A four-run third inning propelled Wheaton to a 5-2 win against the Pioneers.

A fielder's choice pushed the first run of the game across the plate for the Lyons in the third, followed by a grand slam that resulted in three runs scored when the lead Wheaton runner failed to touch home plate.

A single and double made it a 5-0 score during the top of the fifth inning. William Paterson got on the board in the sixth when senior Heather Mendez (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) drove in Katelyn Miele (Flanders, N.J./Pope John XXIII) and Jessica Maciolek (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) with a single up the middle.

Miele was 3-for-4 and senior Jenna Vitale (Kenilworth, N.J./David Brearley) went 2-for-2 at the plate. Junior Michele Graham (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) allowed five runs on 10 hits (4-2), collecting four strikeouts.

GAME TWO
A four-run fourth inning helped to propel the Pioneers to a 6-1 victory against McDaniel.

A Mendez RBI-single, a fielder's choice and a two-run Lindsey Nadolny (Belford, N.J./Middletown North) base hit gave WP the early 4-0 lead. Miele singled in Mendez in the sixth, and after McDaniel crossed the plate once during the home half of the same frame, William Paterson collected its final run when Nadolny trotted home on a Nicole Walls (Bordentown, N.J./Bordentown Regional) groundout.

Nadolny, Vitale and Mendez each contributed a pair of hits. Vitale picked up the victory (3-0), striking out six and walking three in 7.0 innings.

William Paterson will begin an eight-game homestand Wednesday, March 23, with a doubleheader against Manhattanville at 3:00 p.m.
