PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team moved up two spots to fourth place among 13 Division III teams after the second day of competition at the 2011 Metropolitan Championships Feb. 19 in Piscataway, N.J.
The 200 medley relay team of freshman
Lauren Carney (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick), junior
Brett Kuchin (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East), junior
Lesly Mendoza (Passaic, N.J./Paramus Catholic) and freshman
Giuliana Trapani (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) touched seventh in the A Final (1:55.50). The 800 free relay team of Trapani, senior
Tara Graham (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills), sophomore
Taylor McKay (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) and Mendoza was 10th in a time of 8:29.70.
Kuchin touched fifth in the 100 breast B Final (1:09.00). In the 100 fly, Mendoza was seventh (1:04.86) and junior
Stephanie Smith (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) was eighth (1:05.83) in the B Final, while McKay placed seventh in the C Final (1:06.26).
Graham was seventh (1:03.74) and Carney was eighth (1:04.18) in the 100 back B Final, and junior
Jaimie Hinshelwood (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Twp.) was sixth in the C Final (1:07.05). In the 200 IM C Final, sophomore
Kerry Doris (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) placed seventh (5:11.95) and senior
Lauren Horowitz (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) touched eighth (5:19.44).
William Paterson will finish competition at the Metropolitan Championship Feb. 20.
