Football to Celebrate Senior Day, Host No. 17 Kean Nov. 5

Kickoff Will be at 1:00 p.m. at Wightman Stadium

The Pioneers will honor their nine seniors prior to taking on No. 17 Kean Saturday, Nov. 5, at 1:00 p.m. at Wightman Stadium.

William Paterson (3-5, 2-5 NJAC) will celebrate Senior Day when the Pioneers host No. 17 Kean (7-1, 6-1 NJAC) Saturday, Nov. 5.  Kickoff at Wightman Stadium (1,500) will be at 1:00 p.m.  Live statistics will be available, and a live audio broadcast and Web stream will be provided by William Paterson's student radio station, 88.7 FM Brave New Radio.

Scouting the Pioneers 
William Paterson is 3-5 overall and 2-5 in the NJAC after a 17-15 win against Morrisville State (1-7, 1-6 NJAC) Oct. 29.

Freshman quarterback Joe Salame (Lodi, N.J./Lodi) is 23-for-47 for 302 yards, two touchdowns and six interceptions in four games under center. 

Junior tailback Dawys German (North Arlington, N.J./North Arlington) has rushed 142 times for 773 yards (5.4 yards/carry) and five touchdowns, and has caught five passes for 66 yards and two scores.  He ranks second in the league in rushing (96.6 yards/game).  Freshman Daryl Shuler (Peekskill, N.Y./White Plains) has picked up 161 yards on 35 carries (4.6 yards/attempt) while scoring once.  

Sophomore Mick Paye (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) has 13 receptions for 265 yards (20.4 yards/catch) and three touchdowns.  Senior Joe Muraglia, Jr. (Belleville, N.J./Queen of Peace) has caught 14 passes for 185 yards, and is sixth in the league in punt return average (5.8 yards/return). 
    
Senior linebacker Jim Hamill (Stanhope, N.J./Lenape Valley Regional), a member of the 2009 All-NJAC Honorable Mention Team, leads WP and is tied for third in the conference with 9.6 tackles per game (77 total, 26 solo, 5.5 TFL, 2.5 sacks).  The Sept. 4 and Sept. 25 NJAC Defensive Player of the Week as well as the 2008 NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Year and a three-time all-conference honoree, senior bandit Doug Dudek (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) has collected 67 tackles (33 solo), an interception and 2.5 sacks.  He is fourth in the NJAC in tackles for a loss (1.44 per game, 11.5 total) and ninth in tackles (8.4 per game).

Senior defensive lineman Damian DiIorio (Totowa, N.J./Passaic Valley Regional) is tied for second in the league in both sacks (6.0; 0.75 per game) and fumbles forced (three, 0.38 per game) and fifth in tackles for a loss (11.0 total; 1.38/game) while adding 58 tackles (24 solo), breaking up two passes and returning one of his two recovered fumbles for a touchdown.  Junior linebacker Clifton Glaze (Palmyra, N.J./Palmyra) has made 50 stops (20 solo, 6.5 TFL).   

Sophomore Cory Mundt (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) is averaging 38.4 yards per punt (first in NJAC, 35th in Division III), and freshman Robert Sinegra (Wharton, N.J./Morris Knolls), the Oct. 2 and Oct. 30 NJAC Special Teams Player of the Week, is 14-for-14 on PATs and 3-for-4 on field goals.

William Paterson returned nine offensive starters and six defensive starters from a 2010 team that got off to its best start since 1992, going 4-1 before mounting injuries took their toll for a 4-6 overall record and a 3-6 mark in NJAC play.  The Pioneers, who welcomed back four all-conference selections, were predicted to finish seventh in the 2011 NJAC Preseason Coaches Poll.

Scouting the Cougars 
Kean is 7-1 overall and 6-1 in league play after a 13-6 win against Rowan (5-3, 5-2 NJAC) Oct. 29.  The Cougars are 17th in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) National Poll, and were picked to finish fourth in the 2011 NJAC Preseason Coaches Poll.

Senior quarterback Tom D'Ambrisi is 129-for-237 for 1,491 yards, 12 touchdowns and six interceptions, rating fourth in the league in passing yardage (186.4).  Senior Chris DiMicco has carried 130 times for 548 yards (4.2 yards/carry) and five touchdowns.  He ranks fifth in the conference in rushing yards per game (68.5).  Junior T.J. Denehy has caught 39 passes for 611 yards and three scores, and he is third in the NJAC in both receiving yardage (76.4 per game) and punt returns (7.5 yards/return), and fourth in receptions (4.9 per game).

Senior linebacker Bekim Bujari leads the Cougars with 77 tackles (44 solo, 7.0 for loss; 9.6 tackles/game, tied-third in NJAC), forcing two fumbles, blocking a pair of kicks, breaking up five passes and collecting an interception.  Junior linebacker Brad Higgins has 56 stops (35 solo, 7.0 TFL), and junior linebacker Jerelle Peay has 49 tackles (32 solo, 2.5 for loss), three pass breakups and a fumble forced and recovered.

Senior Billy Daniels is averaging 32.6 yards per punt and is 8-for-13 (.615) on field-goal attempts and 22-for-24 (.917) on PATs.

Kean was 5-5 overall and 5-4 in the NJAC last year.
