Marabondo Leads Five All-NJAC Women's Soccer Selections

Junior Named to Second-Straight All-Conference First Team

Junior forward Michelle Marabondo was selected to the All-NJAC First Team for the second straight year after pacing the Pioneers with 16 goals and 35 points, adding three assists.
PITMAN, N.J. – Junior forward Michelle Marabondo (Kenvil, N.J./Roxbury) was selected to the 2011 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Women's Soccer All-First Team, leading a list of five Pioneer honorees announced Nov. 1.

Senior back Ashley Grabowski (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) was selected to the All-NJAC Second Team, while senior back Sophie Hart-Ruderman (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) and junior midfielders Laela Brock (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) and Nicole Kufel (Oradell, N.J./River Dell Regional) were honorable-mention honorees.

Marabondo earned a spot on the All-NJAC First Team for the second straight year after pacing WP with 16 goals and 35 points, adding three assists.  In the league statistics, she ranks first in goals/match (1.07), third in points/match (2.33), fourth in goals and points, and tied for 10th in game-winning goals (two).  A starter in all 15 matches this fall, she has 39 goals and 11 assists for 89 points in 57 career matches to rank third in goals, points and game-winning goals (13) on the William Paterson charts.  Marabondo was a member of the 2010 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Atlantic Region First Team.

Grabowski received her third all-conference award (2010 first team, 2009 honorable mention) after starting all 15 matches this season and contributing two goals and an assists for five points.  A member of the 2010 NSCAA All-South Atlantic Region Second Team, Grabowski finished her career with six goals and nine assists for 21 points in 76 matches (60 starts).

WSOC
A second-team all-league pick a year ago, Brock was third for the Pioneers this year with 11 points, posting three goals and tying for the team lead with five assists while starting 14 of 15 matches.  Tied for eighth in the NJAC in assists/match (0.33) and tied for ninth in assists this fall, she has started in 58 of 59 career matches, contributing nine goals and 10 assists for 28 points.

Hart-Ruderman garnered her first all-NJAC accolade after starting all 15 matches this season and finishing fourth on the team with eight points (2 g, 4 a).  In 55 career matches (41 starts), she collected 10 goals and nine assists for 29 points.

Kufel started all 15 matches as a first-year Pioneer after transferring from the Community College of Rhode Island.  The outside midfielder contributed one goal this season, the game winner during an 8-1 victory against John Jay (Oct. 17).

William Paterson was 5-8-2 overall and 2-5-1 in league play this season, reaching the first round of the NJAC Tournament.
