Men's Swimming & Diving Gets Dramatic Victory

Pioneers Defeat Baruch, 120-111

Sophomore Jeffrey Jaeckel won the one-meter (178.12) and three-meter (183.75) dives during a 120-111 victory against Baruch.
WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (1-1) earned a dramatic 120-111 victory against Baruch (0-1) Oct. 27.

The Pioneers earned the team win thanks to a victory in the 200 free relay, as Brian Birkbeck (Absecon, N.J./Holy Spirit), Edward Zappile (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Twp.), Mike Paliukaitis (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) and Evan Marine (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Twp.) turned in a time of 1:35.69.

Zappile won the 500 (5:15.14) and 1,000 (10:51.71) frees, and sophomore Jason Koros (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) touched first in the 100 back (56.82).  Sophomore Jeffrey Jaeckel (Kenilworth, N.J./David Brearley) won the one-meter (178.12) and three-meter (183.75) dives.

William Paterson will host Purchase Monday, Oct. 31, at 6:00 p.m.
