Women’s Swimming & Diving Gets First Win

Pioneers Defeat St. Joseph’s-Long Island, 108-81

Junior Taylor McKay was one of three double winners for the Pioneers, touching first in the 500 (6:16.74) and 1,000 (12:50.14) frees.
PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – William Paterson (1-1) earned its first women's swimming and diving victory of the season with a 108-81 win at St. Joseph's-Long Island (0-1) Oct. 25.

Junior Taylor McKay (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) was one of three double winners for the Pioneers, touching first in the 500 (6:16.74) and 1,000 (12:50.14) frees.  Senior Lesly Mendoza (Passaic, N.J./Paramus Catholic) won the 200 free (2:15.07) and 100 fly (1:08.81), and sophomore Lauren Carney (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) finished first in the 50 (27.73) and 100 (59.60) frees.

Freshman Sheri Brino (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) earned a win in the 100 back (1:07.97), and senior Brett Kuchin (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) won the 100 breast (1:16.34).

The William Paterson men and women will host Baruch Thursday, Oct. 27, at 6:00 p.m.
