William Paterson is 2-3 overall and 1-3 in the NJAC after a 30-21 loss against Rowan (3-2, 3-1 NJAC) Oct. 8.
Freshman quarterback
Joe Salame (Lodi, N.J./Lodi) was 10-for-19 for 186 yards and two touchdowns during his college debut Oct. 8.
Junior tailback
Dawys German (North Arlington, N.J./North Arlington) has rushed 105 times for 553 yards (5.3 yards/carry) and three touchdowns, and has caught four passes for 71 yards and two scores. He ranks second in the league and 30th in Division III in rushing (110.6 yards/game), and third in the NJAC in all-purpose yardage (124.8 yards/game).
Sophomore
Mick Paye (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) has 11 receptions for 246 yards and three touchdowns. Senior
Joe Muraglia, Jr. (Belleville, N.J./Queen of Peace) has caught 10 passes for 170 yards, and is third in the league in punt return average (8.3 yards/return).
Senior linebacker
Jim Hamill (Stanhope, N.J./Lenape Valley Regional), a member of the 2009 All-NJAC Honorable Mention Team, leads WP and is fourth in the conference with 48 tackles (14 solo, 4.5 TFL, 2.5 sacks). Doug Dudek (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) has collected 41 tackles (19 solo), an interception, 2.5 sacks. He is tied for fifth in the NJAC in tackles for a loss (1.40 per game) and tied for seventh in tackles (8.2 per game).

Damian DiIorio (Totowa, N.J./Passaic Valley Regional) is the NJAC's sacks leader (5.0; 1.00 per game, tied-15th nationally), fumbles recovered co-leader (2; 0.40 per game) and is tied for fourth in tackles for a loss (8.0 total; 1.60/game, tied-50th nationally) while adding 36 tackles (15 solo), forcing a pair of fumbles, breaking up two passes and returning one of his two recovered fumbles for a touchdown.
Sophomore
Cory Mundt (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) is averaging 36.2 yards per punt (fourth in NJAC), and freshman
Robert Sinegra (Wharton, N.J./Morris Knolls), the Oct. 2 NJAC Special Teams Player of the Week, is 11-for-11 on PATs and 2-for-3 on field goals.
William Paterson returned nine offensive starters and six defensive starters from a 2010 team that got off to its best start since 1992, going 4-1 before mounting injuries took their toll for a 4-6 overall record and a 3-6 mark in NJAC play. The Pioneers, who welcomed back four all-conference selections, were predicted to finish seventh in the 2011 NJAC Preseason Coaches Poll.
Scouting the Red Hawks
Montclair State is 5-0 overall and 2-1 in league play after a 34-33 win against No. 24 Montclair State (3-2, 3-2 NJAC) Oct. 8. The Red Hawks were picked to finish first in the 2011 NJAC Preseason Coaches Poll.
Junior quarterback Drew Cathey is 10-for-18 for 116 yards. Senior Chris D'Andrea is the NJAC's leading rusher with 155.4 yards per game (113 carries, 777 yards, 6.9 yards/attempt, six touchdowns), and paces the league with 161.4 all purpose yards per contest. Senior Dan Keegan paces the team with 26 receptions for 374 yards (14.4 yards/catch) and four TDs. Keegan leads the league with 15.7 yards per punt return.
Sophomore linebacker Dan Avento leads the Red Hawks with 48 tackles (29 solo; 8.0 per game, tied-ninth in NJAC), adding two interceptions. Senior defensive back Kevin Cloghessy has a team-best three interceptions to go with 15 stops (12 solo), and senior defensive back Chad Faulcon has 31 tackles (21 solo).
Senior Joe Liscio is third in the NJAC in punting (36.2 yards/punt). Senior Jake DelVento is 10-for-13 on field-goal attempts and 13-for-15 (.867) on PATs.
Montclair State was 10-2 overall and 8-1 in the NJAC last year, reaching the second round of the NCAA Playoffs.
