FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The William Paterson tennis team improved to 5-2 this season with a 5-4 victory at Farmingdale State (7-2) Oct. 10, giving the Pioneers their most victories since re-instating the sport for the 2004 season (4-5).
Junior
Christina Puleo (Leonia, N.J./Leonia) defeated Jessica Sickles, 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 at first singles to improve to 8-2 this season. Freshman
Jessica Daniels (Edison, N.J./Edison) earned a 6-4, 6-2 win against Kristina Rossano at third singles, and sophomore
Justine Lawson (Haskell, N.J./Lakeland Regional) was a 6-3, 6-0 winner at sixth singles against Alex Lebrun.
Puleo and sophomore
Samantha Miller (West Keansburg, N.J./Raritan) defeated Sickles and Rossano at first doubles, 8-3, and Daniels and sophomore
Mary Skretkowicz (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) were 8-0 winners against Laura Earlie and Amanda Vecchio at third doubles.
William Paterson will host Staten Island Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 4:30 p.m.
