Men's Basketball Cruises Past Brooklyn, 68-44

Paul, Agunbiade Each Score 12 Points against Bulldogs

WAYNE, N.J. – Senior guard Gabriel Paul (Newark, N.J./Hillside) and freshman forward Femi Agunbiade (Maplewood, N.J./Colombia) each scored 12 points to lead the William Paterson men's basketball team (10-4) to a 68-44 win against visiting Brooklyn (6-7) Jan. 10 at the Rec Center.

The Pioneers used a 22-5 advantage in points off turnovers to forge a 34-15 halftime lead. William Paterson scored the first six points of the contest and cruised to a 21-4 opening advantage with 7:05 left in the first half.

William Paterson's lead grew to as many as 35 (56-21) less than nine minutes into the second stanza as the Pioneers held the Bulldogs scoreless for a six-minute span. WP shot 54.7 (29-53) percent from the floor while limiting Brooklyn to a 16-for-44 (.364) effort, including 0-for-11 shooting from three-point range.

Senior guard Nick Allan (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) contributed nine points and junior guard Paul Siljee (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) had eight for William Paterson. Kavon Baker paced the Bulldogs with 13 tallies, while Chris Guttadaro had 10 and nine rebounds.

William Paterson will travel to New Jersey City Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 8:00 p.m.
