Leading 14-13 despite the Lightning scoring the night's first five points, the Pioneers reeled off six straight points on senior
Michelle Leeder (Ridgefield, N.J./Ridgefield Memorial) serve to eventually win the first set, 25-17. Leeder's strong serving in the second set helped William Paterson turn a 17-11 edge into a 25-12 win, while eight consecutive points with Runge as the server allowed the Pioneers to jump out to an early advantage en route to a 25-11 third-set victory.
Leeder contributed 11 assists and five kills, sophomore
Kelly Shaw (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) had 10 kills and six digs, and junior
Megan Maher (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) tallied nine assists, five kills and six digs. William Paterson hit .228 for the night, while Lehman had an overall hitting percentage of -.049.
Vanessa Brown paced the Lightning with six kills and 10 digs. Lisa Jagdeo had all 17 of the team's assists.
The Pioneers will play at Staten Island Thursday, Sept. 9, at 7:00 p.m.
