Tennis Sweeps Doubles Matches En Route to 7-2 Win

Pioneers Defeat Baruch for Fourth Team Victory of Year

Freshman Mary Skretkowicz was a double winner against the Bearcats, registering singles (6-3, 6-1) and doubles (8-6) victories.

WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson (4-2) swept all three doubles matches en route to a 7-2 tennis victory against visiting Baruch (2-6) Sept. 25.

Senior Delnaz Shalforoosh (Haworth, N.J./Northern Valley Regional-Demarest) and freshman Mary Skretkowicz (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) were 8-6 winners at first doubles, followed by an 8-2 victory from sophomore Sonja Pedersen (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) and freshman Maris Ferreira (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) at second. Senior Evelyn Tam (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) teamed with junior Meghan Crampton (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) for an 8-2 win at third doubles.

Skretkowicz posted a 6-3, 6-1 victory at second singles, while Shalforoosh was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at third. Freshman Justine Lawson (Haskell, N.J./Lakeland Regional) won 7-6, 6-3 at fourth singles, and Tam finished with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at sixth.

William Paterson will visit Ramapo Monday, Sept. 27, at 6:00 p.m.
