JAMAICA, N.Y. – William Paterson (1-0) jumped out to an early advantage and never looked back, earning an easy 3-0 victory at York, N.Y. (0-1) Sept. 2 in the volleyball season opener for both schools.

The Pioneers took the first set, 25-7, and completed the sweep with 25-8 and 25-6 victories. Sophomore Kelly Shaw (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) had eight kills and five digs, while junior Kim Runge (Closter, N.J./Northern Valley Regional-Demarest) collected eight kills and six digs.

Junior Megan Maher (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) added six digs and four kills to her matches-best 15 assists and five service aces. Senior Jillian Bronowich (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) chipped in eight assists and four digs, and classmate Michelle Leeder (Ridgefield, N.J./Ridgefield Memorial) had six kills and three aces.

The Pioneers will play their home opener Saturday, Sept. 4, against Mount Saint Vincent at 12:00 p.m.
