Volleyball Sweeps Tri-Match at John Jay

Pioneers Defeat Bloodhounds, Manhattanville

NEW YORK, N.Y. – William Paterson improved its record to 8-1 this season with victories against host John Jay (25-7, 25-3, 25-15) and Manhattanville (25-13, 21-25, 25-13, 25-16) in a volleyball tri-match Sept. 18.

Against the Bloodhounds (1-6), senior Michelle Leeder (Ridgefield, N.J./Ridgefield Memorial) led all players with 20 digs and four service aces, while junior Kim Runge (Closter, N.J./Northern Valley Regional-Demarest) added five digs to her match-best 10 kills. Senior Jillian Bronowich (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) posted 13 assists and three aces, junior Megan Maher (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) chipped in with eight kills, nine assists and nine digs, and sophomore Kelly Shaw(Wallington, N.J./Wallington) collected seven kills and five digs.

During the victory against the Valiants (5-4), Maher registered a triple-double with 10 kills, 11 assists and 12 digs. Runge put down 16 kills, Bronowich had 10 assists and 15 digs, and Shaw posted 11 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore Michelle Mitchell (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) added 12 digs to the winning effort.

The Pioneers will visit Saint Elizabeth Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 7:00 p.m.
