STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Senior Delnaz Shalforoosh's (Haworth, N.J./Northern Valley Regional-Demarest) 6-4, 6-4 victory at third singles provided the deciding point in a William Paterson (2-1, 0-1 NJAC) 5-4 tennis victory at Staten Island (1-2) Sept. 11.

The Pioneers started the day by winning two of the three doubles competitions, thanks to an 8-6 win by Sonja Pedersen (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) and freshman Justine Lawson (Haskell, N.J./Lakeland Regional) at second, and an 8-2 victory by freshman Maris Ferreira (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) and junior Meghan Crampton (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) at third.

Crampton provided a 7-5, 6-2 victory at fifth singles, and Ferreira added a 6-1, 7-5 win at sixth singles.

William Paterson will host Lehman Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 4:00 p.m.
