Box Score

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Four players were in double figures in scoring as the William Paterson men's basketball team (5-4) used a 12-0 run midway through the second half to seize control and eventually pull away from host Hunter (4-5) for a 71-55 victory Dec. 12.

Senior guard Nick Allan (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) led all players with 18 points, connecting on nine of 15 (.600) field goals while dishing out five assists. Junior Paul Siljee (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) had 13 tallies and a game-best 11 rebounds, senior guard Gabriel Paul (Newark, N.J./Hillside) chipped in 13 points, and classmate Shaun Canty (Carlstadt, N.J./Paramus Catholic) added 10 tallies and five boards.

William Paterson owned a narrow 30-28 edge at the break, but the Hawks three times pulled ahead during the first 6:16 of the second stanza before Canty's short jumper in the paint ignited a 12-0 burst for the Pioneers. When a Canty layup finished the run, William Paterson enjoyed a 52-42 advantage with 9:16 to play. Hunter briefly cut that lead to seven less than 90 seconds later, but Allan's bucket started a 9-2 run that put the Pioneers squarely in control at 61-47 with 5:43 on the clock.

Anthony Uter led Hunter with 13 points. Izzy Hoffman and Mark Courtien each had 10 tallies.

The Pioneers will visit Lehman Friday, Dec. 17, at 6:00 p.m.
