William Paterson (4-5, 3-5 NJAC) will celebrate Senior Day when the Pioneers host No. 22 Montclair State (8-1, 7-1 NJAC) in the regular-season finale for both programs Saturday, Nov. 13. Kickoff at Wightman Stadium (1,500) will be at 1:00 p.m.
WP-Radio 88.7 FM will provide a live broadcast of the game, and
live statistics will be available. The day also will serve as William Paterson Veterans Appreciation Day.
Scouting the Pioneers
William Paterson is 4-5 overall and 3-5 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) after a 38-7 loss at No. 22 SUNY Cortland (8-1, 8-1 NJAC) Nov. 6.
Sophomore
Ryan Gresik (Newton, N.J./Newton) is 148-for-248 for 1,425 yards, six touchdowns and 12 interceptions under center. He also has added two rushing touchdowns, and ranks fourth in the NJAC in passing yardage (158.3 yards/game) and fifth in total offense (169.1 yards/game).
Sophomore tailback
Dawys German (North Arlington, N.J./North Arlington) has carried 114 times for 409 yards (3.6 yards/carry) and three touchdowns.
Junior
Joe Muraglia, Jr. (Belleville, N.J./Queen of Peace) leads the Pioneers with 43 catches (4.8 per game, fourth in NJAC), 435 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore
Chris Manfredo (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) has gained 388 yards on 31 receptions.
Junior bandit
Doug Dudek (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills), the 2008 NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Year as well as a 2009 second-team all-conference pick, leads the Pioneers with 63 tackles (23 solo, 6.0 TFL, 1.5 sacks), adding four pass breakups, three interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a blocked kick. Dudek registered a 26-yard return of a blocked punt for a touchdown against Western Connecticut Oct. 2, and he is tied for sixth in the conference in interceptions (0.33 per game).
A two-time second-team all-conference selection, senior defensive lineman
Dyon Moore (Brooklyn, N.Y./Hudson Catholic) owns 54 tackles (20 solo, 7.5 for loss, 1.5 sacks). Sophomore safety
German Decena (Union City, N.J./Emerson) has 45 stops, four pass breakups (0.78 PD/game, tied-ninth in league) and three interceptions (0.33 per game, tied-sixth in conference).

Chris Thomas (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) has added 39 tackles to his team-best seven pass breakups (0.78 passes defended/game, tied-ninth in league), fumble recovery and blocked punt, and is averaging 23.4 yards per kickoff return (second in NJAC). Sophomore linebacker
Luigi Napolitano, Jr. (Morris Plains, N.J./Parsippany Hills) owns 37 tackles (4.0 TFL) and an interception.
William Paterson returned four offensive starters and eight defensive starters from a 2009 team that compiled a 5-5 overall record and a 4-5 mark in NJAC play. The Pioneers, who welcomed back five all-conference selections from a year ago, were predicted to finish fifth in the 2010 NJAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, and were the “dark horse” pick to win the title this fall.
Scouting the No. 22 Red Hawks
Montclair State is 8-1 overall and 7-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) after a 27-22 victory against Brockport (2-7, 2-6 NJAC) Nov. 6. The Red Hawks are tied with Rowan (7-1 NJAC) for second place in the league standings, 0.5 game behind No. 20 SUNY Cortland (8-1 NJAC). Montclair State is 22nd in this week's American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25 Poll.
Junior quarterback Tom Fischer is 128-for-218 for 1,859 yards, 20 touchdowns and eight interceptions this fall. He leads the NJAC in passing yardage (206.6 yards/game) and rates third in total offense (195.6 yards/game).
Senior Chris D'Andrea leads the Red Hawks with 453 rushing yards on 72 attempts (6.3 yards/carry), scoring three times, while senior Matt Jimenez has carried 119 times for 413 yards and three touchdowns.
Junior Byron Lewin has caught 49 passes for 574 yards and four scores, ranking second in the NJAC in receptions/game (5.4) and fourth in receiving yardage (63.8 yards/game).
Senior linebacker Ed Kirschenbaum is tied for fourth in the league with 9.4 tackles/game (85 total, 42 solo, 9.5 for loss, 4.5 sacks), adding three pass breakups. Freshman linebacker Dan Avento has 68 stops (32 solo, 7.5 for loss), a fumble recovery, two fumbles forced and an interception. Junior defensive back Gary Knoeppel has added 38 tackles (24 solo) and a team-best five interceptions (0.56 INT/game, third in NJAC; 1.00 pass defended/game, tied-fifth in conference).
Montclair State was 10-2 overall and 9-0 in the NJAC a year ago, falling to Mount Union, 62-14, in the second round of the NCAA Playoffs. The Red Hawks were picked to finish second in the 2010 NJAC Coaches' Preseason Poll.
