SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- William Paterson kept it close for much of the first half, but Division I Seton Hall later pulled away for a 97-55 victory in a men's basketball exhibition game Nov. 5 at Walsh Gymnasium.

Senior Nick Allan (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) led the Pioneers with 13 points, while classmate Shaun Canty (Carlstadt, N.J./Paramus Catholic) had 10 points and five rebounds.

After trading buckets through the opening six minutes, the Pirates used a 13-2 run to grab a 19-10 lead with 11:03 left in the first half. SHU continued to pull away and took its largest lead of the half, 48-25, after Jordan Theodore fired a no-look pass to Jeremy Hazell under the hoop for a traditional three-point play at the 1:09 mark of the half.

The Pirates scored the first nine points of the second half, capped by a trey by Jamel Jackson, and never looked back. Sophomore Ferrakohn Hall scored nine of his 13 points after the break.

Junior Paul Siljee (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) posted 11 points in his William Paterson debut, and Joey Castro (West Paterson, N.J./Passaic Valley Regional) contributed four assists.

Junior Herb Pope scored 16 points and pulled down a game-high 20 boards in 23 minutes of action for Seton Hall. Hazell also had 16 points and Theodore dished out 10 assists in the first half alone, and finished up with 12 for the game.

The game marked the return of Seton Hall basketball alumnus Jose Rebimbas, who graduated from the Seton Hall in 1990 and was a part of the Pirates' historic run to the 1989 national championship game. Rebimbas is in his 16th year of a highly-successful run as head coach of the Pioneers.
