Volleyball Season Ends with 3-1 Loss in NJAC First Round

Fifth-Seeded Pioneers Fall at Fourth-Seeded Rowan

WAYNE, N.J. – Fifth-seeded William Paterson (20-6) saw its season come to an end with a 25-18, 22-25, 17-25 and 22-25 loss at fourth-seeded Rowan (17-13) in the first round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Volleyball Tournament Nov. 2.

Junior Megan Maher (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) provided a triple-double with 11 kills, a team-best 17 assists and a match-high 21 digs for William Paterson. Classmate Kim Runge (Closter, N.J./Northern Valley Regional-Demarest) posted 13 kills, 17 digs and three service aces, and senior Michelle Leeder (Ridgefield, N.J./Ridgefield Memorial) had 12 kills and 19 digs. Senior Jillian Bronowich (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) collected 15 assists and 12 digs, while sophomore Michelle Mitchell (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) had 20 digs.

Rowan was led by middle blocker Krissy Collins with 13 kills. Katie Havlicek followed with 11 kills and seven digs, and Nikki Binetti added eight kills and five blocks. Megan Mondelli contributed seven kills and 14 digs. Setter Nikki Ciandella compiled 22 assists and 15 digs, and Lauren Ruffalo tallied a team-high 19 digs.
