WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team improved to 6-1 this season with a 134-83 victory against Marywood (0-3) Nov. 17 at Wightman Pool.
Junior
Edward Zappile (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) was a triple winner in the 200 IM (2:14.52), 500 free (5:16.97) and 1,000 free (11:02.59). Junior
Brian Birkbeck (Absecon, N.J./Holy Spirit) touched first in the 100 (53.25) and 200 (1:57.79) frees, and freshman
Jason Koros (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) won the 50 (27.39) and 100 (58.55) backs.
Senior
Andrew Scimeca (Lincoln Park, N.J./Morris County Tech) won the one-meter (185.63) and three-meter (193.65) dives. Junior
Jeremy Lim (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) touched first in the 50 fly (25.51) and sophomore
Sebastian Schrils (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) posted a win in the 50 free (23.31).
The 200 free relay team of
Alex Burdi (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Twp.),
Christopher Ropka (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional), Birkbeck and Zappile had a win in a time of 1:37.29.
The Pioneers will enjoy an extended break, returning to competition Thursday, Dec. 9, against FDU-Florham at 6:00 p.m.
