MONTCLAIR, N.J. – William Paterson (17-5, 3-4 NJAC) inched one step closer to securing a bid to the upcoming New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Volleyball Tournament with a hard-fought 3-1 victory at Montclair State (4-24, 3-4 NJAC) Oct. 21. The Pioneers dropped the first set, 23-25, before winning the next three by scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-19.
The Pioneers are tied with the Red Hawks for fifth place in the league standings, still looking to lock up a bid to the six-team conference tournament with one NJAC match remaining.

Kim Runge (Closter, N.J./Northern Valley Regional-Demarest) put down a match-best 21 kills, and tied with sophomore
Michelle Mitchell (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) for the team lead with 24 digs. Senior
Jillian Bronowich (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) had 21 assists and 19 digs, senior
Michelle Leeder (Ridgefield, N.J./Ridgefield Memorial) tallied 16 digs, and junior
Megan Maher (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) posted 17 kills, 18 assists and 19 digs.
Marta Topor led Montclair State with 14 kills, Kaitlyn Irwin added 38 digs, and Bella Milstein had 21 assists to go along with 11 digs.
William Paterson will host a tri-match Saturday, Oct. 23, taking on York (N.Y.) at 12:00 p.m. and Centenary at 4:00 p.m.
