JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The country's best Division III scoring defense had one of its best nights of the season as No. 16 William Paterson (19-1, 8-0 NJAC) held host New Jersey City (9-9, 3-5 NJAC) to just 39 points for a 19-point victory, 58-39, on Jan. 27.
For the Pioneers, who began the week first in Division III in scoring defense (53.7 ppg) and fourth in field-goal percentage defense (.365), the 39 points were the fewest allowed this winter as WP limited NJCU to 29.8 (14-47) percent shooting overall, including a 1-for-11 (.091) effort from three-point range. William Paterson was well on its way to its school-record 17th straight win after building a 26-9 halftime advantage, and the Pioneers finished the contest shooting 50.0 percent both overall (23-46) and from behind the arc (7-14).

Eric Moore (Dover, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) poured in 26 points, making 10 of 14 (.714) field goals and five of seven (.714) three-pointers, to lead all scorers. Classmate

Isaiah Johnson led the Gothic Knights with 10 points, adding eight rebounds. Khalid Muhammad grabbed 10 boards, and Walik Albright chipped in nine tallies.
