WAYNE, N.J. – Senior guard
Joseph Ellis (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) scored 11 of his game-high 17 points during the first half as No. 21 William Paterson (18-1, 7-0 NJAC) jumped out early on visiting Rutgers-Camden (5-11, 0-7 NJAC), earning a 57-44 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) victory Jan. 23.
The win extended the Pioneers' school-record winning streak to 16 games and kept William Paterson atop the league standings. The Pioneers scored the first nine points of the contest, holding the Scarlet Raptors off the scoreboard until the 14:40 mark as WP quickly built a 25-4 advantage with 6:50 remaining in the first half. William Paterson shot 58.8 (10-17) percent from the field, including a .714 (5-7) percentage from three-point range, and held Rutgers-Camden to a 6-for-26 (.231) effort to enter the locker room with a 29-14 lead.
The Scarlet Raptors pulled to within nine after starting the second period with a mini 10-4 run (33-24, 14:34), but never seriously challenged to pull ahead as William Paterson eventually went ahead by as many as 19 (55-34) with 1:58 remaining.

Bobby Dunn (Garwood, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson Regional) posted 12 points, four rebounds and four assists for the Pioneers, while classmate
Abdoulaye Ouedraogo (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) contributed seven points and a game-best eight rebounds.
Junior Eric Goode led the Scarlet Raptors with eight points off the bench. Classmate Mike Meloni added seven tallies and six rebounds.
William Paterson will visit New Jersey City Wednesday, Jan. 27, at 8:00 p.m., while Rutgers-Camden will host Rowan Jan. 27 at 8:00 p.m.
