WAYNE, N.J. – Senior middle/outside hitter Kelly Helfrich (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) had 12 kills and 14 digs for her first double-double of the season as the William Paterson volleyball team (2-0) earned a 25-7, 25-8, 25-10 home victory against College of Staten Island (0-2) Sept. 5.

For Helfrich, who also had four block solos and two assists, it was her 23rd career double-double. Sophomore setter/outside hitter Megan Maher (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) collected 11 assists, eight kills, four service aces and four digs, while junior Michelle Leeder (Ridgefield, N.J./Ridgefield Memorial) had five kills and seven digs and freshman Kelly Shaw (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) tallied four kills and five digs.

Danielle Ponsiglione and Joanna Tepedino each had three kills for Staten Island, and Alba Basha collected a team-best 13 digs.

The Pioneers will finish a season-opening three-match homestand Tuesday, Sept. 8, with a contest against Baruch at 7:00 p.m.
